Traffic Generation Secrets – How to Get Traffic From Posting on Other People’s Websites

Posting on other people’s websites? You may think this is crazy, especially if you hardly have enough time to keep your own blog up-to-date. But if you want in on one of the biggest traffic generation secrets, read on for a VERY good reason why you should start getting your smiling mug (and links) on other people’s websites too.

Take a good look at some of the more popular blogs. No doubt you’ll notice that they have strings of blog comments, and that these comments usually come with hyperlinked names? And guess where those hyperlinks go… To the commenter’s blog or website.

And go ahead and look at some sales pages as well. You can just go to Clickbank, or you can open some of those emails you probably have in your inbox where people urge you to go to someone’s website for the deal of the decade.

You’ll notice quickly (if you don’t know already) that sales pages are filled with testimonials, and (almost) that each one of them has a link as well, or at least the name of the website.

Those comments and testimonials have been left by very smart marketers. They know the traffic generation secrets that make people in the know leave comments and testimonials: backlinks and more visitors.

Backlinks aren’t as sure a thing as you might want to hope for. The thing is that most WordPress blogs are set up to make links nofollow by default. That’s unfortunate for you, but I guess it will discourage spammers. Still… sometimes you may get lucky.

In fact, you can check whether or not your link will be a dofollow or a nofollow link: Just control–click on the name of the person who posted the comment and you’ll get a list of properties. Among them, there will be one that indicates whether the link is follow or nofollow.

Most blogs make those links nofollow, so the search engine spiders will likely disregard that link as they determine how many back links a particular site may have. Still, if the blog is reasonably popular and you think you’ll find yourself in good company, go ahead and post a comment anyway. Because back links aren’t the only reason to leave comments.

And what about sales pages? Only give testimonials for products you can truly stand behind. Because sooner or later — and usually sooner — you’ll have to do just that.

And when you do, you’ll get free advertising, and depending on the popularity of the product, these traffic generation secrets can generate quite a bit of free traffic to your website.
